Bands Booked Lately Have Gone Downhill

The quality of bands booked at Irving Plaza has been on the decline in recent years. Irving Plaza used to be one of my favorite venues to catch a show because the acoustics are good and the smaller space makes for a more intimate show. Now, ticket prices have been marked up what seems like 1000%, the bands booked appeal to suburban dads everywhere, and it's like $8 for a beer.

The lounge area is very awkward, not nearly as nice as the lounge at Bowery Ballroom. It's tiny and right on top of the bathrooms.

I've always had an okay view from the main stage floor and the balcony (and I'm short and usually can't see anything).

The Bowery Presents lineups have been much better recently, so I've been seeing a lot more shows at Studio B and Bowery Ballroom and the ticket prices are much more reasonable.
