Yellow Jeep Tours

Boquete, Panama is known for its coffee, flowers, and birds. But even with a guide book in hand, it was difficult to decide were to begin. I had heard about the ‘yellow jeep’ tours. They are different from the other tour companies, or taxis, because they are old Toyota Land Cruisers with no tops. Their fliers are all around town so it wasn’t difficult to track them down. I took the Wildlife Hiking tour. The ride to the beginning of the trail was an experience all by itself—great fun and so beautiful. I had two great guides who really knew the area and the wildlife. The cloud forest was filled with sounds but I wouldn’t have spotted anything if it hadn’t been for the guides. Even without binoculars, Raul was able to find Quetzals, Bellbirds (rare), a sloth, bats, and an eagle. I think he should be working for National Geographic, he was so in tune with the forest. They have a web site now, so you can see what I am talking about.
