Local Secrets, Big Finds 2007 Pick

All in a one-block area, you’ll find "a small part of heaven" at these "gorgeous gardens with lots of flowers and ponds." Built during depression-era 1930s when workers made just $4.60 a week, the park has recently been renovated to "upgrade the aging infrastructure," and the result is new sculptures, patterns, and color schemes, along with the "ponds and waterfalls that make this one of the most restful places in town." It’s the perfect place to "grab your book and spend a few hours." Plus, it’s so romantic that "over 35 weddings take place here each year."
