Located at the end of Bedford Avenue near North 12th Street, McCarren Park is a great place to hang out in on a weekend to relax and maybe even play some pick up games. On Sundays, there are league softball games and kickball games that require you just showing up alone or with your own team. There are three softball games going at one time and then the kickball take over afterwards. Tons of people wait around on the sidewalks, practicing their throwing arms and getting ready. Upon entering the actual park area, there were people parked all over the place. There were blankets and the like at every corner of the park, enjoying the beautiful Brooklyn air and the wonderful tanning light that the midday sun produces. There are bars located within walking distance of the park and plenty of food and beverage trucks parked near the entrances of every point of the park. So, bring your blanket, a quick lunch, plenty of water and maybe a Frisbee or ball and hang out and enjoy this oasis that Brooklyn offers. You will not regret it because there is nothing more relaxing than hanging out in the park in the middle of the city. Plus, this is Brooklyn and the people here are here for a good time, so you’ll definitely make some friends.
