The America Restaurant is located off the lobby area of the New York New York Hotel & Casino. The thing that's really great about this restaurant is that it's open 24 hours a day. We all know that nobody follows the normal rules of sleep and wake patterns while in Vegas! Breakfast is my favorite meal to get in America (the restaurant). They have awesome cinnamon french toast, and a fabulous fresh fruit cup. The coffee leaves a bit to be desired. My husband complained that his scrambled eggs were a bit on the runny side…so the next time he got fried eggs (which he enjoyed much more).
Breakfast generally ran us about $25 - $30 dollars total depending on if we got the $6 fruit cup. On our first day we ate at America for lunch. I got the Rueben sandwich with an ample portion of fries and Dan got the mushroom and Swiss burger with fries. The Rueben was a bit light on the meat, but tasted good. Dan was thrilled to death with his burger. Lunch ran us approximately $35 including tip.
The décor is awesome. There is a huge map of the U.S. that hangs down into the center of the room resembling a topography map. I swear there is enough seating to fit half of the hotel guests in this restaurant. There is also a bar area with a couple of TV’s usually playing whatever sporting event is going on. Near the entrance is a small counter area with some cute souvenirs themed, of course, with America (mostly US flag decorated items). Considering the large size of the restaurant, you would think it would take forever for service…but, they seem to keep it very well staffed. We never waited more than 15 – 20 minutes to be served. They leave a carafe of coffee on the table when you order coffee, which I love. I’m an avid coffee drinker and nothing makes me more upset than waiting for a coffee refill.
The atmosphere is very casual. You could probably get seated in your swim trunks if you wanted to. The biggest downfall, like most restaurants located in casinos…no restrooms. You have to venture out onto the casino floor to find the nearest restroom. They seem to be the busiest at prime breakfast hours (9 am – 10 am). So if you’re staying in the hotel…you might be better off ordering room service for breakfast during that time frame (it’s still the same food…and same price, just $5 service fee is extra). However, you would miss out on the atmosphere.
