Mandarin Oriental Manila

I stayed at the Makati Shangri-la the past eight trips to Manila, but they raised the price considerably this time so I decided to try another Makati hotel, the Mandarin. Check-in was very quick. The room leaves much to be desired. It looks like it hasn't been renovated since the early 80s. There is a musty smell in the hall and the windows are very thin. I had to change rooms after the first night due to being woken up from honking on the street. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower which I hate. The restaurant was a bit pricey, $32 for buffet dinner, the food was OK. Strangely, for the Philippines, two of the three days I was there, there was no mango at breakfast. All that being said, I must say that the service was a 10; one of the best experiences I've had service-wise in the East. The location is OK compared to Manila Peninsula, and especially Shangri-La which is next-door to Glorietta mall and Greenbelt.
