I had read much about this new restaurant before our trip and so Wild Mangoes was on my "must do" list. The owner of Wild Mangoes is the former head chef at Victoria House and the recipient of numerous cuisine awards.Unfortunately, this turned out to be the biggest disappointment of our trip! Although I love the small, open air, sea side atmosphere that this restaurant offers, I cannot say the same for the food and service. On the evening we dined here there were two tables that knew the owner. These tables were waited on constantly by two waiters while everyone else was ignored. Our service was awful... and the server acted very put out to have to wait on us. The owner of the place was preparing special elaborate meals for her "friends". When I finally received my Cashew Crusted Mahi Mahi... it was the smallest serving I have ever seen in my life! The food was very average in taste... nothing to brag on.We spoke with another couple a few days later who had the same thing happen to them at this restaurant. The wait staff were too busy waiting on people who knew the owner and they were ignoring everybody else. The bottom line is that if you are a friend of the owner; you will get great service, decent servings and high quality food. If you are not a friend, this is a high priced gamble to take.
