Square One Dining is one of my favorite breakfast spots in LA. It is a casual place with a cozy patio for outdoor dining. The wait staff are friendly and efficient. The restaurant is small and fills up fast, so be prepared for a wait. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, but the inventive breakfast menu is served all day.Square One proudly serves fresh local ingredients. They also serve organic products and hormone-free meats. For breakfast, try the French toast, made with three slices of brioche. Skip the butter and warm maple syrup and opt for the banana, citrus caramel, or the seasonal fruit topping and whipped cream. The buttermilk pancakes are fluffy and topped with orange curd and spiced chocolate sauce or bacon-enriched caramel sauce. Yummy! If you're in the mood for egg dishes, try the egg sandwich with tomato, arugula, and applewood smoked bacon on a toasted brioche. The eggs are light and fluffy and partners well with the smoky Nueske bacon from Wisconsin. An unusual breakfast choice is the short ribs with caramelized onions, potatoes, and carrots. Why is it breakfast? Well, it is also topped with an egg over easy. May sound weird to some, but so delicious! Other baked egg dishes feature spicy chorizo and fava-wild mushroom ragout. Other egg dishes include the classic eggs Benedict, a house cured salmon Benedict, and omelets with garlic lemon thyme chicken sausage or with shiitake, oyster mushroom, and feta. Breakfast sides include cheesy grits, roasted potatoes, or a side salad.Square One Dining also serves a good strong cup of coffee!
