Though not as big as Gyeongbukkung, Changdeokggung’s main attraction lies in the secret garden of Huwon, located at the far end of the palace grounds. Covering a total of 2.2km walking trail, you will be taken to visit the administrative building where the King met his ministers, the Queen’s chambers, the workers’ quarters and the Secret Garden (Huwon). Part of the popular drama “Jewel in the Palace” was shot against the backdrop of Queen’s chambers and the workers’ quarters. The Secret Garden is the perfect spot to admire the autumn foliage. As most tourists enter this palace on a guided tour, one can only spend maximum 15 minutes here. The entrance fee with guided tour is KRW 6,000. Non-guided tours entrance fee is KRW 15,000, Thursday is the only day for free exploration. If you’re coming from Jongno3-ga station (line 1 & 5), it’s a 10 minute walk from exit 6. Anguk Station (line 3) would be much nearer, merely 3 minutes away.
