I booked my place on the tour online two days before I went. I received confirmation quickly and it cost around 100 euros which included travel, museum entry, and lunch.
We went to Auvers first and then headed to Giverny (about an hour drive from Paris)
A quick, unguided tour of the Musuem of American Art at Giverny was followed by a private, catered lunch in the museum's dining room. The food was fantastic and the wine and coffee were also complimentary.
After lunch, we had a tour of the gardens and the house with free time to explore the gardens. The water lily garden was incredibly beautiful. The water lilies were blooming and as an admirer of Monet's work the chance to stand on the Japanese bridge that I had seen in so many paintings was amazing. It was a bit crowded with tourist groups but not bad. Perhaps going in the morning would lessen the crowds.
The gardens are quite large and I would allow at least 2 hours to go through everything at a leisurely pace. There's also the opportunity to see Monet's grave in the churchyard at Giverny.
I would recommend this to any art lover or anyone wanting a day trip from Paris.
