Best Things About the Resort:
The beach was breathtaking. The ocean was crystal blue, and you could see stunning mountains in the distance. I cannot describe the beauty of the beach from this resort. If you did nothing but stared off and daydreamed, you would still have a wonderful trip.
Next to the beach, the best part of Play Naco is the staff. The best way I can describe the feeling is that you are truly a guest in their home, and they want to make sure that you are having a nice time. Within a few days most of the staff knew our names. They always asked how we were and made sure that all of needs were attended to. The staff worked to entertain everyone, putting on beach parties and nightly entertainment. They were available to teach you how to dance salsa and to keep an eye on you if the Dominican Rum got the better of you. They really made you feel as if you had friends that you wanted to return to see again.
When we arrived at the resort, we were a bit stressed from the flight and the uncertainty of being in a foreign environment (arriving at the Puerto Plata Airport can make you a bit nervous). The amazing RCI guest service professional was quick to call for two rum and punch drinks and had us relaxing before we had even seem the resort or the room.
Our room was spacious and well decorated with a large balcony that overlooked beautifully landscaped walkways and beautiful palm trees. There were two televisions in our room with international cable available, but you probably will not spend a lot of time in the room if you decide to visit this resort.
Rooms were kept spotless and the housekeeping service was great. We did leave them a tip of about $2 a day, and it seemed to ensure that extra bottles of water and towels were always left in the room. There was an additional crew of people that kept the grounds beautiful, the beaches clean, and raked the entire resort immaculate.
The pool was large and the swim-up bar was a great place to meet people and get a Pina Colada. Water aerobics was great fun–you will most likely burn more calories laughing as you are giving the person in front of you a head massage! Water polo was also a fun way to meet people. None of the sports are taken too seriously, as they are meant as a fun way to socialize and break up the day from the main attraction of the resort–The Beach!
The food was varied and wonderful. The resort caters to an international clientele and they are still able to please most everyone. There is always fresh fruit, breads and cheese. The buffet was never disappointing but it was fun to get out our bathing suites and dress for a more formal sit down dinner in one of the resorts 3 restaurants. My personal favorite was the Caribbean Grill, but none of them was disappointing.
It is a great place for people in all phases of their life: couples, families with children, singles, and alternative-lifestyle couples will all have a good time. It seemed to us that there were all kinds of people, and the resort was able to accommodate and entertain everyone.
