Resort Experience:
My wife and I returned from a one-week stay in a one-bedroom suite at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Vacation Club (the timeshare portion of the resort). We had an absolutely glorious time at this resort! I was a little apprehensive due to some of the recent reviews on the Internet, but we only have wonderful things to report about our stay.

The resort is located in a private community development within the "Corridor" between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. By automobile, you are only about 10 minutes from Cabo San Lucas (too far to walk). I would still recommend renting a car, even though a shuttle service is available from the resort.

The grounds are beautiful in both design and layout. There are countless meandering pathways between the buildings that provide peaceful contemplation to and from the pool/beach. (FYI, the property is built into the somewhat steep terrain that drops off to the beach/ocean. It is stunning in appearance, but taxing on your legs and feet if you aren't physically fit. Older and less active individuals should be aware that there are a lot of steps throughout the resort).

The timeshare portion of the resort is located next to the hotel and consists of a variety of buildings the contain between 10-20 units per building (the number of units is just a guess). Not all buildings have a direct ocean view.

The resort is located on a dramatic private beach that allows rest and relaxation throughout the day. You can also go swimming in the ocean, but you do need to be careful due to the undertow and size of the breaking waves. (I would not recommend this beach for toddlers/infants.) The pools were beautifully designed, although a little on the small side. We spent the majority of our time on the beach and in the ocean.

There are a number of restaurants located throughout the property. However, we did not eat at the resort except for a breakfast on our first morning. We did order some snacks througout the week from the restaurant locacted nearest the pool. The food was delicious and the drinks very satisfying.

Yes, the food and beverage prices are too high, but not completely out of line with what I would have expected from a resort of this quality. Just be careful and don’t go crazy at the poolside bars and restaurants. We found that ordering during the various Happy Hours helped soften the blow a little bit.

During our stay, the resort staff (both hotel and vacation club) were friendly and accommodating. All requests were fulfilled in a timely manner with a friendly smile.

The one-bedroom unit was beautifully appointed and the balcony provided a wonderful setting for the evening sunsets. We did not have a direct ocean view, but we could still see portions of the ocean blue through the various palm trees situated between the buildings. The kitchen provided us with everything you'd need for the week, including a microwave, four-burner stovetop, and full-sized refrigerator and freezer.

Overall, I would highly recommend this resort as one of the best destinations throughout all of the Los Cabos area. We visited a couple of the resorts located directly on Medano Beach in the heart of Cabo San Lucas and there was no comparison.
