Best Things Nearby:
French Quarter, Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, River Walk, French Market, Harrah's Casino, Mardi Gras World.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location, location, location. Sits right between Bourbon Street and the River Walk. Within walking distance to all activities in the French Quarter.

Resort Experience:
The Quarter House is within walking distance to all activities in the French Quarter. The units are somewhat small for most timeshares, but comfortable. The resort did not offer many ammenities or activities. They had a free contintental breakfast on the weekend, a wine/cheese party one evening and a cooking class. There was a $15 charge for the cooking class, but we did not attend the cooking class because we were busy sight seeing.

The staff was very helpful and friendly; daily housekeeping was provided at no additional charge. The desk called us the night before check out to arrange taxi service for us to the airport.

Due to the resort's location, a car is not necessary. We chose to walk to almost all sites, although we did use a public bus and street car. There is also a free ferry to take you across the river to visit Mardi Gras World. Resort location is very important in New Orleans; we would advise staying at a resort within the French Quarter. The resort offers parking for $15/day if needed. Parking is about a block away. There are many restaurants within a few blocks that range from $8 to $50 per meal.

I would advise not eating at the restaurants on Bourbon Street. The atmosphere was exciting, but the food was better away from Bourbon Street. You must stop at Cafe du Monde for a beignet and the Central Grocery for a muffuletta.

There are many tour companies offering city, swamp and plantation tours. We chose to take a city and swamp tour. Both were very informative and enjoyable. We also took a two hour tour down the Mississippi river on the Steamer Natchez. It was a relaxing ride that explained the value of ports along the Mississippi. Be sure to look for discount coupons for restaurants and tours. Check on the internet or get them from the Visitors Bureau before you go.
