John Pennecamp snorkeling tripMile marker 102.5 Overseas highwayKey Largo, FLJohn Pennecamp state park is the Key Largo Coral reef park. It is a wonderful destination with many many choices as to how to see it. The coral reefs are all far out and require boat transportation to reach the desired areas. These trips are about 2 - 2 ½ hours...just over an hour of that is our on the reef. The views to see are well worth it. The crew is very helpful and this is not a state company so they do allow tips—so remember to take a little cash with your minimal belongings you’ll need for the trip. If you are looking to see the Jesus—this trip doesn’t get you there—in order to get there you have to arrange for a private charter designed to see that aspect of the reef. There are lots of things to see, and you are far out in the ocean out of the view of the shoreline. The cost was $28.95 per adult, and children were $23.95. We brought our own gear but asks and fins can be rented for $2 each, and the $2 snorkel you keep. There are three trips daily leaving at about at 9:00, noon, and 3:00. Reservations are nice, but when we were there they still had plenty of room for walk-ons.
