Ancient Ruins Pink Jeep Tour

We enjoyed the trip on our Ancient Ruins Pink Jeep tour.

The total time of the tour from the pick up at our hotel to return was two hours. My only complaint is I thought $72 a person is a bit steep for a 2-hour tour. We shared our jeep with another family of 3 and there was plenty of room for six people. We were on paved roads for about 10 minutes and then we were on the dusty dirt roads after that. There is a cover on the jeep to shade you from the sun. I would recommend sunscreen, comfortable clothes and plan on getting dusty. The roads are bumpy and you do have to have your seat belt on, but I wouldn’t consider it a wild ride like the other jeep tours that are available.

The guide drove us to the remains of the Honanki Cliff Dwellings, which was a Native American civilization 700 years ago. There are some walls of the dwellings still remaining and a lot of rock art. There is an easy hike to get to the ruins and the guide did an excellent job explaining the history, rock art, geology, plant life and wildlife of the area. The guide offered to take a family photo, which I thought was very nice. After the hike, the guide offered us water and there were restrooms at the site. It was very informative and we learned a lot about the area.
We took the tour on a hot summer day so there wasn’t much wildlife to be seen except for a roadrunner that ran across the dirt road. The scenery is beautiful and it was fun to get out in the backcountry.
