The physical facility LOOKS like a luxury resort hotel, and the room had marble floors; a free mini-bar; a refrigerator stocked with beer, water, and soft drinks; and a balcony that, with a little neck-twisting, afforded an ocean view. The staff is rude and unhelpful. We carried our own bags to the front desk and then to our rooms, then retraced our steps when we left. The concierges are just there to sell, not to help you get the most out of your time there. They will actually sell you two outings for the same time period. The food is terrible, with poor-grade meats and vegetables way past their time and stale pastries tasting of rancid oil. The dining-room staff was incompetent and surly. There were long waits for food not prepared as ordered. You have to wait in a long line in the brutal heat to get a reservation for dinner. Housekeeping will steal your money. Maintenance is not performed routinely (loose toilet seat, defective safe, and defective shower head). There was no microwave or coffeepot, and the room-service coffee was not hot. The staff hates you even more if you let them know you understand Spanish (they insult and swear at their guests in Spanish). The ocean is beautiful, but they have a guard posted to keep you out of it. The pool is closed after 7pm. Drunks are everywhere. There is no restroom near the pool. The all-inclusive plan results in many guests drinking more than they should, and the no-tipping portion of this plan may be why the staff seems like they don't want to be bothered. I tipped a couple of staffers who were not rude, but they were hard to find.
