We arrived in Rome on an overnight train in the blistering heat at 6AM. We carried our huge packs the 6 blocks from the station to Hotel Dolmiti, where we were warmly greeted and allowed entry to our room. Although we had a reservation, our room was the only room that didn't have air conditioning. Let me tell you this - at 7AM, Rome heats up. Our room was ridiculously HOT. I showered and fell asleep for a few hours. The next day they were able to move us to a nicer room with air conditioning, which was welcomed with open arms.

The room was spacious, clean and had a great shower. There was a balcony and a king-size bed. We couldn't have been happier. We were within cabbing or walking distance to everything, and the room was quiet, cool and nice.

If you do stay there, make sure to call ahead and ask for an AIR CONDITIONED room. Although they gave us a nice discount on the first night, it wasn't worth the tossing and turning in the sweaty Roman heat.
