The Moorings is a very idyllic resort, so quaint that it's possible to drive right past it. Consisting of little cottages enclosed in a small tropical forest right on the ocean, The Moorings offers privacy and quickly feels like a home away from home.
We stayed in the Tree House cottage, one of the smaller cottages on the resort but still equipped with a wicker sofa and lounge chair, fully stocked kitchen, screened-in porch, and bedroom with a queen bed. Normally, we would have ignored the DVD player and television while on vacation, but since we were in the middle of a tropical storm, we took advantage of the equipment and made an excursion to the local video store. We also hit up the local grocer, cooked most of our meals in the kitchen, and enjoyed them at the dining room table set up in the screened in patio area.
The Moorings had everything you could desire in a romantic or family getaway. There was a fenced in pool, hammocks scattered along the beach and on the dock, various fruit trees with plenty of bounty to offer the guests when in season, and sea kayaks lying on the beach to be taken out as you please.
Honestly though, this place is all about the ambience.
