The Carriage House was a wonderful place to stay. It is a high-rise building with nine floors, the ninth housing an Italian restaurant. It had a swimming pool and ample parking, which was convenient to the complex. Although it wasn't fancy or opulent by Las Vegas standards, it was very clean with a pleasing atmosphere about it. The staff were knowledgeable about the area and pleasant to deal with.
There aren't activities on site other than the swimming pool and restaurant, but with the LV strip only a couple of blocks away, who cares?! I would say that if you have children, this place may be a bit boring for them as there is no game room or activity center. There is a lounge with a TV, paperback books, and magazines. A wonderful concierge is on site to help you figure out what, when, and where. Also, shuttles run three times a day to Harrah’s and to and from the airport. I believe there is even a day excursion to Laughlin scheduled from time to time.
Our unit consisted of one bedroom with a full kitchen. It was listed as sleeping six, but I think four would have been a more comfortable number unless they were your children. Our bed was very comfortable--the best we have had at any of our rentals. We did have one small problem with our unit. The shower would not drain properly for the first couple of days. Finally, we put in a trouble call one evening and within the hour, the problem was fixed.
The Carriage House was more than a place to stay--it was our refuge from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas strip. Even though we had a great time visiting the hotels, casinos, and other sights along the strip, it was always a pleasure to be able to return to the Carriage House and unwind. The Carriage House is only a couple of blocks off the strip, but it is worlds away from the glitz and glamour of it. I must admit that I did not see a lot of folks while I was there and those I did see were middle-aged or older (and quieter).
