Hotel France-Louvre

I first stayed at the three-star France-Louvre almost 15 years ago, when I arrived in Paris during a convention and it was the only hotel I could get a room at. At the time, the $75 room rate was out of my range, but I had no choice. I was traveling alone, and I welcomed the fact that the hotel has a 24-hour front desk and was located in a busy area. These days a room is about 550-750FF, breakfast is included.

France-Louvre is located in the thick of it all on the Right Bank, in the Marais near the Centre Pompidou, Les Halles, and several blocks down the Rue de Rivoli from the Louvre. It is a very busy area, and can be a bit noisy, although the rooms are well insulated. The rooms are well appointed and spacious, and come equiped with mini-bars, television, telephone, and hairdryers. The hotel is very clean and centrally located to many touristic sights, and I felt safe in the hotel. However, now that I know Paris well, I would not choose to stay in this part of town (I would opt for the quieter and prettier Left Bank).
