We stayed at the Sorrento Palace as part of a tour package and were offered a pretty good room rate. The very large hotel and conference center seemed empty except for my friend and me, so we had the spacious grounds, multiple swimming rooms and restaurants all to ourselves. The room itself was quite nice, airy with a pretty view of the surrounding hillside. The numerous outdoor swimming pools spilled into each other, which would be fun for children. The indoor pool is designed as a Roman bath, though the water was unfortunately chilly.
We ate one of the restaurants and found the food to be pretty good for a hotel meal. Since we were the only ones there, the service was quite prompt! The only disadvantage to staying at the Sorrento Palace is that it is perched high above the rest of town, so walking to and from the main village can grow tiresome. Then again, you are afforded splendid views of what''s down below...
