My friends and I stayed at the Melbourne Marriot Hotel on New Years Eve 2003/04, hiring two adjoining suits with a living room between us. One of the rooms had a spa bath.

Some of the others had been there early in the day, but I'd had a party to go to beforehand. I turned up at 2am. Oh, was it heaven!

The rooms were spacious, luxurious, and beautifully decorated. The settee was big enough for all of us, and the bar was big enough for our alcohol, so we could make cocktails. We even had room service at all hours! It was a great way to wind down and watch other NYE celebrations around the world on the television (without sound, of course).

I think we got to sleep at 4am. Then it was up by 8am for our included breakfast at Windows (International), then off to the swimming pool for a spa, sauna, and a swim. Thankfully, check-out was at mid-day, so it was a very quiet morning at the pool, with no need to rush. It was a lovely break.

Rooms amenities include:

It is a little bit of luxury right in the middle of Melbourne.
