Inter Hotel Istanbul
Büyük Efendi Sok 29
Location, location, location: Hotel Inter has it!
Inter Hotel Istanbul is situated just off Ordu Cadessi, opposite the university and the covered bazaar. Büyük Efendi Street is not a thoroughfare, but a quiet street with shops and apartments.
It has four floors and there is a lift. The lobby, with a bar, television, and reception, is small. Our room was 4x3m and had a single and a double bed with a good firm mattress, small desk, and wardrobe, but no proper place to put our luggage. So we put our suitcases on the floor. The hotel has satellite television: CNN, BBC Prime and World, a Turkish channel that broadcasts American series with Turkish subtitles, one German, one French, and 25 Turkish channels.
Breakfast is served in a smallish breakfast room. There is an excellent buffet breakfast: fried or scrambled eggs, toasted bread, fresh Turkish-type bread (large and round), cucumber, tomatoes, black olives, cheese, ham (only for tourists, as Muslims don't eat pork), feta cheese (white, fresh type of cheese), jam, honey, and cereals.
The clientele was international, but the majority was from Russia. They came to buy textiles in the Beyazit district. This district is known for its many textile outlets, both wholesale and retail.
The price of a single room was 25€, a double was 35€, and a triple was 45€. But when you book through the internet, you get a 5€ reduction and free pickup from Atatürk Airport. If you arrive at the new airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 60km away, they can still arrange a pickup, but charge 15€.
