Cliff dwelling, rock art, and well informed volunteer guides. Being from upstate NY, we don't see much of the National Parks Service, so I don't know if I should be surprised at the helpfulness of the NPS staff... but it made me appreciate my tax dollars at work. This site offers a lot to the visitor willing to make the somewhat "bumpy" ride on Forest Road 795. But, as many of the hikes are out this way you'll experience the unique pleasures of driving the forest roads of various numeric designation... can't be avoided, and once you ease into it and learn to appreciate driving at 10 to 15 mph you can drive and still enjoy being where you are. As we were nearing the site, a coyote sauntered out and across the road...15 mph and well worth the time it takes, if I can see a coyote.
