Quebec Experience

If you know very little about Quebec City, it may be helpful to see this multimedia show before hitting the cobblestones. It’s history with a bang – literally – as surprises pop out of the walls, the floor, and the ceiling. A giant screen, 3D glasses, and mobile screens on the side walls enhance the experience. The history is a bit simplistic - it's only 30 minutes after all but several defining moments and virtual figures are showcased, from early explorers (like Jacques Cartier), religious leaders and Amer-Indians to contemporary cultural icons.

The show may even help orient your visit; it provides an overview of a few landmark sights, such as the Chateau Frontenac Hotel, where Winston Churchill once stayed, the Quebec Bridge and the Citadel, a star-shaped fortress known as the Gibraltar of the Americas. Check the web site for English show times. (www.quebecexperience.com). Adults are $7.50, and there are special rates for families. If you're hungry afterwards, there is a sweetshop just around the corner from the viewing room, and a cafe on the floor below.
