Looking quite intimidating from the outside, with its bright red barred windows giving an image of an olde world apothecary mixed with an 18th-century jail - check out the seats in the window. This bar has recently been voted the second best beer bar in the U.S. Once inside, it is easy to see why. A long thin bar extends down one side with more extensive seating at the back. A choice from six ever-changing taps, and one cask. One of the main features, though, is an interesting range of around 150 Belgian beers, many quite rare and none mainstream. They even have their own (Brewed by Brassiere Cantillon in Brussels). Again, a good jukebox (eclectic and frequently changing selection) is available.

Prices: Varied $5 for a domestic pint, to $8 for a rare lambic (12oz)
Opening Times: 5PM to late daily.
Food: Cheese and meat boards.
