Oglethorpe Tours, Then and Now Trolley Tour

Member Rating 5 out of 5 by travelallover on August 28, 2005

We boarded this tour at the Savannah Visitors Center. The tour was approximately 90 minutes and covered the historic district and Victorian district. After our tour, we were able to get on/off until 6pm. The two things that stood out about this particular tour company were:
1. The on/off option was after our tour, so the trolley did not stop every 5 minutes to let off passengers and board new passengers, which, in my opinion, is very distracting and breaks up the tour. So, after the tour we, were transported by Oglethorpe's private shuttle to ANYWHERE in the historic district-- how nice!
2. The tour was called the Then and Now tour, and we were able to view photographs that dated back to the 1800s on flat-screen monitors that were on the trolley. The tour guide, Julie, was excellent. So, while she was talking about General Sherman presenting the City of Savannah to President Lincoln as a Christmas gift, we got to see the actual telegram that he sent. This added a very interesting component.

We would do this again the next time we are in Savannah.
