The Stone Hill Winery has a beautiful setting, overlooking Hermann and the Missouri River in the distance. Stone Hill has an expansive gift shop, tasting room, and operating cellars. For $1.50, you can take an informative tour that lasts about 30 minutes. While walking through the winery's building, the guide gave us a brief history of the winery and explained the impact of Prohibition. The winery is thriving once again and making excellent wines! The tour ends in the tasting room, where a well-informed gentleman poured us about 10 different wines and surely would have kept going if we had asked. He suggested wines to match our preferences and was pleasant and informative.
The winery also has a restaurant, but it was closed on the day of our visit. If you are planning on having lunch or dinner there, you may want to check the opening days ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
