The Calgary Zoo is small but well thought out, with great exhibits on dinosaurs, butterflies, and local wildlife. It had all the major zoo animals; elephants, giraffes, and more. Not up to par with the San Diego Zoo, but well done nonetheless. A major portion of the Zoo was under construction while we were there, but we were still able to enjoy the well-planned Canadian wildlife section with a beautiful path wandering through local vegetation. The Zoo is built over and around a small river, with two beautiful bridges connecting the two sides. Food concessions were pretty standard, and there was a small gift shop available for the standard souvenirs. The Zoo is easily accessible via light rail (with its own station!) or by driving.
