The Audubon Zoo is an older zoo that is updating its exhibits. They have a komodo dragon as well as a great exhibits of the large cats. Of course they have alligators too! We loved the flamingos who were nesting at the time we visited. If you visit during May or June you may be able to see baby flamingos.

You can take the St. Charles Streetcar to the zoo. It's a nice place to take children and they have a MacDonalds as well as other places to stop for lunch.
