The white sand beaches of Hapuna Beach are an enchanting treat on the Big Island; Hapuna Beach is one of the few sand beaches on the island. Be careful: the waves are very rough at times. There is a lifeguard on duty, but it is not a playground for the inexperienced swimmer. The state-owned beach park has amenities such as covered picnic tables, snack shop, restrooms with showers, and that famous white sand.
