The Cesar Manrique Foundation is based at the former home of the late artist and holds a collection of his works. The house itself was constructed above and within the chambers of a volcanic tube and the beauty and architecture of the house must be appreciated as much as the art itself. Cesar also designed many different pieces of public art and buildings on the island -- most notably, the monument Campesino/La Fecundidad in the La Geria region at the centre of the island, and the 'wind toys' at many of the roundabouts.
