Mt Pilatus excursion

Lucerne is about an hour from Zurich by train, which leaves every 30 minutes. The tourist office in the station can do bookings for the Mt Pilatus Excursion. We took another train to Alpanchstad (20 minutes approximately) and then the Cog railway (40 minutes) to the top of Mt Pilatus. It was an exhilarating experience as the gradient at times was more than 40 degrees!

At 2132 metres, there are two hotels and a couple of restaurants as well. There are well marked hiking trails as well. Hiking trails start from Fräkmüntegg. The views from the top were awesome!

We returned via the cable car to Fräkmüntegg and gondola to Kriens and then bus No 1 to Lucerne. We would definitely recommend this trip to anyone visiting Switzerland for only a few days.
