Saguaro National Park

This park is about two hours from Scottsdale on good roads. The park preserves the saguaro cactus. This is an interesting flora that only grows naturally in the Sonoran Desert. Other cacti can also be seen. The six-mile loop drive goes through dense growths of saguaro. It's just a graded dirt road. There are four picnic areas located along park roads. You can a walk on a nature trail or take a day long wilderness trek. Be sure to take enough water. The Visitor Center has an interesting well done video, as well as displays of animals that dwell in the desert.
