La Ronde

The amusement park is reached either via an exit half way over Jacques Cartier Bridge or by the subway from either the south shore or downtown Montreal. It is on Ile Ste-Helene, site of the 1967 World Exposition and sports wooden as well as modern rollercoasters and rides for younger children, and it is a regular venue for outdoor concerts and fairs.

In July and August there is an international fireworks competition which takes place in the evenings 2-3 times a week. The best vantage point is from the island (La Ronde) or from the bridge over the island which is blocked to traffic for this occasion. Get there early and take a blanket to sit on. This is generally better than the works at Disneyworld.
