Chapel of the Holy Cross

Member Rating 3 out of 5 by JANET S on April 1, 2003

This chapel built into the hillside is an architectual piece of history. It was built to blend into the hillside and look out over the area and the awe inspiring red rocks. A Frank Lloyd Wright student/protege designed the building.

Keep in mind, this is a Catholic church, and is a house of worship. You can go there to look around or to come in to light a candle or pray. Although there are many people around, most are respectful of the purpose of the place and walk about quietly. The church has a sense of peace that encourages people of all faiths to sit a bit and contemplate.

The basement of the building houses a small gift shop, with primarily religous items. There are no taxes on the purchases.

There is no admission charge to visit the chapel. A donation box is set up next to the door but there is no pressure to contribute.
