The Jacksonville Zoo has been through a major renovation over the past several years. The main exhibits include: Plains of East Africa, Great Apes of the World, Wild Florida, Australian Adventure, and more. The next and last phase is now open. It is a large jaguar exhibit that covers four acres.

One of the not-to-miss attractions is a train ride that loops around the entire zoo. The train ride costs extra above the regular admission. However, you can save some money if you buy your train tickets at the gate with your park admission (but you'll need to ask -- they won't offer this item).

Some family favorites are: the elephant exhibit where you can sometimes catch them splashing in the water, the human-acting gorillas in the Great Apes; the playful otters in the Wild Florida section; overlooking the rhinos and ostriches on the plains of east Africa; and the kangaroos that you can walk among in the Australian Adventure area; and of course the new jaguar exhibit!

You can check for current hours and more information at this website.
