The hike up with a loaded pack of about 35 pounds was strenuous in the 80 degree temperatures. When we reached the snow level, temps dropped, but the snow was still melting fast. We began hiking through wet slog. We didn't know if our next step would break through the crust or not. We took lots of fantastic photos and named the small lake after my new bride: Lake Paula. To us, it will always carry that name. The photos, the stars, the quiet and the much cooler temps than at home in Phoenix, make the hike highly recommended.
