Located just outside Canyon Village, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is one of the park's most scenic views. The Yellowstone River thunders down 308 feet creating the Lower Falls. It is breathtaking to see from the Artist Point observation area (south rim area). To the left is the Lower Falls and looking straight ahead & to your right is the canyon walls with their many colors. There is a large parking lot (restrooms are available here) and a trail (app. 1/4 of a mile) leading down to the major observation area. There are also benches under shade trees where you can just kick back and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
