Like Square Books, Neilson's Department is an Oxford tradition. The oldest department store in the South, Neilsons was founded on Oxford's Square in 1839 only two years after the city was chartered. Although it may not compare, in size, to many big city chain department stores, Neilson's offeres southern hospitality and a fine selection of name brand merchandise. Carrying such labels as Ralph Lauren and Hart Shaffner-Marx, you'll find nothing but the finest clothing in this store. The staff is friendly and helpful and will gladly order anything that they don't have in stock for you. Visitors come from all over the country to visit Neilson's, so if you're making a stop over in Oxford, this should be one of your first stops!
