The Denison Homestead Museum

Member Rating 4 out of 5 by Cheryl on November 24, 2000

Visit six generations of Denisons in their historic homestead. What makes this such a great experience is that each room is furnished with family antiques from a different period in American History; Colonial times, the Revolutionary War era, the Federal period, the Victorian era, and finally the post World War I period of the 1920's and 30's. A guide will lead you through and tells stories of the family members who lived here from 1717 to 1941. The last descendant to reside in the Homestead, Ann Borodell Denison Gates, willed the Homestead and its lands to the Denison Society which she had established in 1930 with instructions to preserve and protect them for future generations. In order to protect the land south east of the Homestead the Society established the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center.
