Southernmost Point

The Southernmost Point of the U.S. is marked by a gigantic buoy on the shore of the point.

Much debate has been discussed over what is the southernmost point in the continental U.S. because Key West is, in fact, an island. Therefore, is it considered part of the continent or not? Either way, the point gives you some perspective in how small you are on this gigantic planet.

At the Southernmost Point I stared out into the ocean and imagine how far it is to Cuba. A plaque next to the buoy explains about the cable in the water which, at one time, supplied power to Cuba.

The "point" of the whole experience is to take a picture to prove you have been there.
