It's probably one of the most pitoresque areas in Rio. Prepare yourself for many ups and downs and delightful awards when you reach a high spot with a great view. For this, check the Parque das Ruínas, a cultural centre placed on the top, but somehow in a low area. The view you get there allows you to see Rio from very close, almost touchable. Fantastic.
The rest of the district is composed of studios — most of Rio's artists live there — and old houses from a time Santa Teresa was the healthiest area to live in Rio, due to its fresh air. Don't forget to take a ride on the yellow old tram. It's just fun.
To kill your hunger, after walking so much, go and have a nice lunch at Bar do Arnaudo, also recommended in this journal.
