We always have lunch at least once at The Stein during our ski week. They have a great buffet. I'm a caterer, so I'm not easily impressed, but this restaurant has not disappointed us yet. In any resort, restaurants are faced with transient workers, both on the floor and in the kitchen. The food is always wonderful with gracious service.

Their buffet had a great cold salad and first-course station. Cold jumbo shrimp, smoked fish, mussels, assorted salads, and smoked meats and cheeses, plus soup. Everything was top quality. The hot food was also great: stews, fricassees, chicken and fish, a carving station with prime rib, turkey, and pork loin. There were roasted vegetables too. The dessert station was also a treat: chocolate bread pudding, creme brulee, assorted pies, and cakes. Word to the wise, go early. It seems the food starts to run out near the end of the scheduled buffet time.
