The Dansbury Depot

The Dansbury Depot is an original 1864 train station converted into a restaurant. It has a charming, cozy, Americana atmosphere. There are model trains running on overhead tracks in all the rooms, a little gift shop at the hostess stand, and a substantial bar. Our food server, Tim, was great! He was extremely friendly and outgoing and helpful. It happened to be my daughter's 16th birthday, and he did a fantastic job of bringing her dessert out with the candle; I mention this because my daughter had just left to go to the ladies’ room as Tim was bringing out the dessert! He managed to hide it and round up the singing waiters/waitresses once more for a rousing chorus of "Happy Birthday" and they even used her name.

Everyone was very pleased with their portions and the taste of their entrees. I had one of their "giant" martinis and it was indeed large! It was very tasty and I managed to finish it all! It was easy to find from our resort with plenty of on-street parking. The menu was well organized, offered many items such as chicken, seafood, steak and sandwiches. The only bad thing I have to say is that I ordered some fresh fruit for dessert instead of the heavier items offered, and it was anything but fresh. It was the canned fruit salad that you get at the supermarket, and it was old and fermented.

I would recommend this restaurant highly, just as long as you stay away from the fruit salad!
