Baby Moon Restaurant & Pizzeria

We decided to try the Baby Moon Restaurant prior to the concert. It is a very large place and we were seated at a table that wouldn't stop wobbling so they gave us another table not far from the first one. I guess the people that sat there a few minutes later weren't as particular as we were.

The restaurant filled up very fast. It was Valentine's Day and they had a Grilled Seafood Platter for two with a mixed green salad, coffee and dessert for $40. The rest of their menu consisted of 5 meat dishes, 10 seafood dishes, 26 pasta dishes, 6 types of pizzas and an assortment of Low Fat Dishes. The food happened to be very good. They put bruschetta and Italian knots on the table to start. The meals came with a salad and the vegetables they served were excellent and authentic Italian. We had spinach and broccoli rabe served with garlic and oil. We shared fried calamari for an appetizer. It was cooked to perfection and was not rubbery like that found in so many similar restaurants -- and the sauce was delicious. The other dishes that we had, steak pizzaola, veal parmigiana and the seafood platter were very good as well. Having the food a little warmer would have been my only request.

For the type of place it was, the drinks were expensive. Liquor was $8.00 per drink and wine was $6.00 each. The waitresses were extremely busy and running around -- perhaps because it was Valentine's day. I asked for a second glass of wine and never got it.

Although the food was very good, the service and atmosphere left something to be desired and there are just too many good places in the Hamptons to bother with it again.
