Bahia Mar Bar & Grille

The Bahia Mar Bar & Grille is in the Radisson Hotel at the Bahia Mar Marina. We were worried that with so many people at the boat show, it would be difficult to find a place to eat. However, there were very few people here and we were able to get a table immediately. After we sat down, we realized this was a buffet; not our favorite type of dining. But we were tired and hungry, so we stayed. We're so glad we did!

While the main courses were your standard buffet fare, the salad selection was outstanding. The antipasto tray had prosciutto, 2 kinds of cheese, salami and marinated hearts of palm. It was so delicious, I had seconds! What they labeled as "tomato salad" was what I've eaten elsewhere called "mozzarella a la caprese." Tomato slices with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, and balsamic vinegar. (Shhh! I had seconds on that, too!) The caesar salad was fresh and crisp, the pasta salad was al dente and flavorful. My husband really enjoyed the seafood salad. In fact, he never even sampled the main courses; he just had another plate of the seafood salad.

The main course included spiral-sliced ham, beef with gravy and baked chicken. The steamed vegetables included broccoli, carrots & peppers and was cooked perfectly. Small red potatoes were also very tasty.

The desserts were varied, but somehow didn't seem all that appetizing to me. I had a small piece of a dark chocolate cake. It tasted like what you might buy in the freezer section at Costco. The Key Lime pie was was deliciously sweet-tart. It was custardy with a traditional pie crust.

Live music added a nice touch to our evening. The one-man show featured some fun reggae as well as traditional love ballads.
