Cliff House is the third building to stand in the same location. They offer Sunday Champagne Brunch and meals throughout the week at lunch and dinner. I have only been to the brunch, but it was fabulous. It offered 8 different types of salads including seafood salad, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, pancakes, fresh crab and shrimp dishes, and much more. Also, waiters walk around bringing Champagne or Sparkling Cider for you to drink throughout the meal.
However, the food is not what makes the meal. It is the view. The historic Cliff House sits on its famous perch at the north end of Ocean Beach offering tourists and locals alike a warm and inviting respite from the cold ocean air--not to mention an ideal spot from which to view a sunset. While you are eating, you can enjoy a view of the Pacific Ocean or watch people on the beach.
Around for 140 years, the famous Cliff House survived both the turn-of-the-century fires at the neighboring Sutro Baths and the 1906 earthquake. The view is spectacular. Look carefully, and you'll see seals cavorting on the giant rocks below. Serving a Californian fare where it's common to order seafood, this is a fine dining restaurant.
