While Brennans is not on the River Road, I thought that you might want to go into New Orleans one night for dinner and this is the place to go.In my opinion Brennan's is the best of the best. It is considered the most beautiful restaurant in all of New Orleans's by many, myself included.
While definetely expensive, it is worth the splurge just to experience not only superb meals but the care that the staff takes with you. While it may sound like a cliche, everyone really is treated like royalty.
The owners mandate to the staff is that you are to be treated as if you are in his private home. There is no sign on the Greek Revival home advertising the restaurant and you must ring the doorbell to be admitted. You will be ushered into a victorian parlour where you may order your drinks before being taken to your table.
Strolling musicians bring atmosphere and ambiance to a delightful dining experience. And I have not even begun to mention the meal itself! In a city where food is a major part of your experience, Brennan's outdoes itself. My turtle soup was better than any that I had ever had, my husbands crab in puff pastry literally melted in your mouth....and I can't tell you how many pounds we gained from the dessert. There is no doubt that it is expensive, but if you only go all the way once in awhile, this is the place to do it. Reservations are absolutley a must and the wait is usualy 6 weeks or more. Call early.
To close, good thing I don't live in New Orleans or I would weigh 300 lbs!
