McSorley's Old Ale House

You haven't seen Greenwich Village until you've been to McSorley's. About 150 years old, and never once having had a face lift, this is a place to drink beer and talk with your friends. McSorley's is a curious mix of tourist trap and local watering hole depending on time of day. To see it at its native best, I suggest that you visit M-F around quitting time. That's when the men who make their living by the sweat of their brows stop in. They are here to wash away the taste of the City before heading home. Forget the food, do your eating elsewhere. Order your beer and ale with pride because there are few, if any, other places as cool as McSorley's.
